Sunday Bridges....... New bridge under construction

Photo taken from the terrace of the new city hall, Montpellier, on July 31st, 2013.

Sunday Bridges on San Francisco Bay Daily Photo

Sunday Bridges........... Pont Juvénal during the FISE

More people on the ground than on the bridge. That was going to change the day after.

Sunday Bridges....... On Place de la Comédie

From the "tramway," it looks like the mouth or the inlet of the tunnel leading to the Corum.
From the shiny steel railing, it looks like the top of a bridge or a footbridge.
I picked the latter option :-) I hesitated between "mouth" and "inlet"....
As I often do, I used both. But I wonder what word I would have picked for the "end"
of the tunnel (words matching "mouth" and "inlet" respectively)

Sunday Bridges...... Getting ready for the FISE

Workers are getting one of the footbridges ready for the FISE, which will take place next week in Montpellier.

If you like this kind of very spectacular sports events, you can watch a 3D video about the 2012 FISE

More Sunday Bridges photos on Louis la Vache's blog: San Francisco Bay Daily Photo

Sunday Bridges.... on the campus of UC Berkeley

Photos of the little bridges on the campus of Berkeley University.

More bridges on Louis la Vache's San Francisco Bay Daily Photo blog.

Sunday Bridges : old bridge in Prades-le-Lez

Very old bridge in its very green environment (the photo dates back to a few years) in the Domaine de Restinclières, where the Lez River has its source, in Prades-le-Lez.

Cranigot de Montbêlant

ou Le Mariage Manqué

The Roman bridge in Sommières, and the river.

A few days ago, I found an old book entitled Cranigot de Montbêlant, published in 1929 and printed in Montpellier. The title obviously makes fun of Henri de Montherlant (in my opinion) and the play might be a satire of Montherlant's works. The author is Edmond Lagarde, who was a lawyer and who wrote a "project of Constitution for France". I could not find anything about Lagarde on the internet. This has aroused my curiosity. In Cranigot, "nigot" sounds like "nigaud" which means simpleton, and in Montbêlant, "bêlant" means bleating (like a sheep).

Whitestone Bridge

This is one of the first photos I took a short time after my plane landed at Kennedy Airport last Thursday. I took it from inside the car, therefore it cannot be a good photo! It shows a part of Whitestone Bridge, in the Bronx. Maybe not as impressive as the Viaduc de Millau but not bad at all....

I have not had the opportunity yet to go to Manhattan and to take good photos (I'd better say "photos I like") but I will soon...

Another bridge

This bridge, located on the domaine de Restinclières, was my second choice.... I like it, although it is not as spectacular as the Pont du Diable. It is close to the source of our river, the Lez.

Theme day: Bridges

My photos are a bit conventional. But they don't show "any" bridge: it's the Devil's bridge! One of the best known old bridges in my area. It dates back to the 11th century.

You can read the legend about this bridge here. I wil try to find the time to translate it tonight.

Please pay a visit to the City Daily Photo blogs that are participating in this theme day:
