The banks of the River Lez
The Lez again. What else ? There are trees and flowers along one bank. It could have been worse. The grass has grown again after the FISE. I wonder if the banks will remain green when the building called L'Arbre Blanc, which I find ugly, will be completed.

THE BIKE PATH
This very nice but too short bicycle path is located close to La Pompignane. It is lined along its entire length with trees, shrubs, flowers, and even a few fruit trees. In spring, the lush vegetation there contrasts with the barren concrete desert on the other side of the street.

Sunday Bridges..... Pont Juvénal
Pont Juvénal, photographed from the footbridge (upstream).
To tell the truth, I liked the old Pont Juvénal better, which was demolished and replaced by this one. You will see a few photos of the old bridge if you click on the link below.
The Lez at the turn of the 20th century

Weekend Reflections..... Along the river
Parc Rimbaud
Left bank (parallel to Avenue de la Pompignane)
A large part of our neighborhood still looks very much like a village. But greedy developers are watching and biding their time!
Weekend Reflections blogs

Vintage postcard look for a concrete bridge on the Lez.

Weekend Reflections..... Vive les femmes
These are photos of the Crowne Plaza Montpellier, the new international hotel, located close to the Corum, on Parking Joffre (a big parking lot near Lycée Joffre).
My internet friends know that I am not crazy about modern architecture, and particularly about concrete buildings. This one makes me think of a Neapolitan ice cream cake. It must not have been as difficult to build as, let's say, Gallo-Roman theaters or medieval cathedrals, but the bedrooms must be great and anyway it had to be there, I guess. I also think that the architect must have been a man, since a woman would not have designed a building with so many windows placed that way.
Weekend Reflections blogs.
Tomorrow will be another day......

France Disfigured

Our President's good friend owns a TV channel (TF1) but he also owns lots of other things, such as cranes and concrete. There was an interesting program last night on a French TV channel (not TF1, of course!!!) about "France disfigured." Billboards, ugly warehouses, abandoned factories, ludicrous traffic circles..... Poor France! For Mammon's sake, what wouldn't man do?
If I could speak my mind, I would say and write that I think the good friend participates in the disfiguration of France.

Nostalgia

Have you ever thought that things were better "in the old days"? I have. Actually, I think so most of the time.
From the balcony of my apartment on top of a 8-storey building, I can see the Pic Saint-Loup, the old city and the Mediterranean in the distance.
I love watching the thin stretch of sea, shown in the upper photo. But soon it will have disappeared from my panorama. The stretch has already shrunk as you can see in the lower photo.
Concrete has seized absolute power over Montpellier. Too much concrete. I have counted 15 cranes between me and the sea. Many people think our beautiful city is losing its soul. I agree.
Montpellier is a frog that wants to be as big as a cow, like in La Fontaine's fable.
