This is a birds' sanctuary, I will not say more about it not to tempt the devil, which showed up too often in recent years. I have seen hundreds of beautiful birds there.

Si vous êtes un passionné d'histoire et de nature, autant que je le suis, cette région est l'endroit parfait pour vous..... Voitures et pollution tenues à distance, du moins autant que faire se peut.

THE BIKE PATH

 This very nice but too short bicycle path is located close to La Pompignane. It is lined along its entire length with trees, shrubs, flowers, and even a few fruit trees. In spring, the lush vegetation there contrasts with the barren concrete desert on the other side of the street.

Mellow Yellow Monday...... Amarger-Arguel garden center

A Mellow Yellow Monday (since the sun is back at long last). :-)))

Past, present and future yellow flowers and fruit in Pépinières Amarger-Arguel, located between Montpellier and Castelnau. For years, the owners have been helping the neighborhood look beautiful. They installed flower pots along the new street along their garden center as soon as the street was open to car traffic earlier this year.

Du jaune passé, présent et à venir (citrons) dans la magnifique pépinière Amarger-Arguel, dont j'ai souvent montré les plantes dans mon blog (à deux pas de chez moi).

Mon petit chou

Some cabbages are now as beautiful as roses but they do not smell as sweet yet. Did you buy roses for your "petit chou" yesterday? ("mon petit chou" is a French equivalent to "my sweetheart").

Certains choux font concurrence aux roses par leurs couleurs mais pas encore par leur odeur.
J'ai pris ces photos devant les pépinières Amarger, à Castelnau, tout près de la Pompignane. Les pépiniéristes décorent la rue et le rond-point toute l'année. Merci à eux.

Yellow poppies

I photographed these yellow poppies (the official California flower) on the Esplanade Charles de Gaulle in Montpellier, last April.

Le coquelicot jaune est la "fleur officielle" de la Californie mais c'est à Montpellier que j'ai photographié ceux-ci en avril dernier.

Sometimes flowers do not grow and live at the right place. Just like some people.

Parfois les fleurs poussent et vivent dans des endroits qui ne leur conviennent pas vraiment. C'est pareil pour certaines personnes.

Escape

A flower that wanted to escape from its garden last summer, in the Quartier des Beaux-Arts
(a beautiful name for a neighborhood that used to be called "quartier des Abattoirs,
that is "slaughterhouse district").

I will be leaving for Arles tomorrow morning. I will escape from my apartment for three days.
I am going to attend the "Assises de la Traduction" and will be back in Montpellier by Sunday evening.
In a week or so I think I will be able to visit my friends' blogs again....

Une petite fleur qui voulait s'échapper de son jardin l'été dernier, dans le quartier des Beaux-Arts.

Je pars à Arles demain matin. Je vais assister aux Assises de la Traduction
et je serai de retour dimanche soir. Dans une bonne semaine je pense pouvoir
à nouveau "visiter" mes blogs amis.

ABC Wednesday..... J is for Jardin des Plantes

If you visit Montpellier, do not forget to go to the Jardin des Plantes (botanical garden). I go there at least 4 times a year.

ABC Wednesday...... T is for Translators

Every year many translators from all over the world meet in Arles for the Assises de la Traduction, organized by ATLAS.

I took these photos in November 2007. They show the yard of the Espace Van Gogh, which was formerly the Hôtel-Dieu-Saint-Esprit.

Tous les ans, des traducteurs se réunissent en Arles pour les Assises de la Traduction, organisées par ATLAS. J'ai pris ces deux photos en novembre 2007. On y voit le jardin de l'Espace Van Gogh, qui fut autrefois l'Hôtel-Dieu-Saint-Esprit.

Spring flowers

Every year the city gardeners sow flowers in the "prairie" of Grammont park in Montpellier. This year they have sowed a new variety of flowers. I don't know their name but one of my friend bloggers will probably know and help me. The flowers are lined up.

Tous les ans, les jardiniers de la ville sèment des fleurs dans la prairie du parc de Grammont. Cette année, on a semé une nouvelle variété de fleurs, dont j'ai oublié le nom (on les trouve dans la campagne, la plupart du temps blanches) mais sans doute l'un de mes amis blogueurs pourra me l'indiquer. Les fleurs ont été semées en ligne.

J'ajoute quand même une petite rose, plus romantique que mon plat cuisiné. Si vous êtes sur Montpellier en ce moment, allez voir les rosiers de Grammont (devant le théâtre). Ils sont magnifiques.

Water lily

I love water lilies. I photographed this one in the gardens of the Château de Flaugergues. If you come to Montpellier, you need to go and taste the wines made by the Colbert family (descendants of Louis XIV's minister of finance)

J'adore les nénuphars. J'ai photographié celui-ci dans le jardin du Château de Flaugergues. Si vous venez à Montpellier, il vous faut aller goûter les vins de la famille de Colbert.

ABC Wednesday..... L is for lovely

I am not in Montpellier for the moment. I am in the "Gard" (capital: Nîmes). I took this photo last week. There were lovely flowers on the Esplanade Charles de Gaulle.

Daisies

This photo was taken on the Esplanade Charles de Gaulle last week. Since then, the daisies have been beheaded!

In Montpellier when you mention "l'Esplanade," you mean l'Esplanade Charles de Gaulle and not l'Esplanade de l'Europe along the Lez or l'Esplanade du Peyrou.

Spring along the Lez

Spring along the Lez. We don't live near the sea (ten minutes from the Mediterranean) but the banks of the river Lez are used as a beach by young and not so young people all year round.

Montpellier n'est pas située le long de la mer mais à 10 minutes de celle-ci. Les rives du Lez servent de plage toute l'année à des tas de jeunes et de moins jeunes.
