Lattara

Located next to Montpellier,  Lattara was an important harbor, whose development might date back to the 8th century B.C. (Etruscan artifacts have been found on the site in the past few decades).  If you ever visit Languedoc, do not miss the Musée de Lattes (contemporary name of Lattara) which  features most fascinating temporary exhibitions such as Of Rites and Men. 

Le Musée de Lattes, la ville qui a fait place à Lattara, cité gallo-romaine essentiellement mais dont les origines sont bien plus anciennes, puisqu'elles remontent au 7e et même au 8e siècle avant l'ère chrétienne (de nombreux objets étrusques y ont été découverts) présente un grand nombre de statues et objets de la vie quotidienne et surtout des outils utilisés par les artisans et les commerçants établis à Lattara.

Les expositions temporaires du Musée sont particulièrement intéressantes. Jusqu'au 8 janvier, on peut encore y voir Des Rites et des Hommes.

Alexandra

On last Saturday, a famous TV program called Tenue de soirée was broadcast from Montpellier (live). One of the guests was Alexandra Rosenfeld, who was elected Miss France and Miss Europe in 2006.

Alexandra is from Saint-Thibéry, a village from Languedoc. She is really very beautiful and nice. She has a strong southern accent :-))

Trees and sun

I didn't take these photos in Montpellier but in Villeneuvette, one of the jewels of Languedoc. Villeneuvette dates to Louis 14th. There was a "manufacture royale" there.

I like the reflections of the sun and the trees on the houses (not in the lens of my camera though). The residents are very "jealous" of their little city.

Château de Flaugergues

The Château de Flaugergues, a folly that was built during the seventeenth century. The owners, Henri de Colbert and his wife, grow and sell excellent wines.
