At the De Young Museum in the Golden Gate Park

I saw the Picasso exhibition at the De Young Museum in San Francisco last week.

I have recently discovered René Pialot's paintings, at the "Maison Pour Tous George Sand." I like them. I have not understood what his method was. He has painted a lot of places I showed through my photos on this blog.

You can see a lot more paintings on his website.

ARPAC

The little castle devoted to the ARPAC exhibitions is located a few minutes from where I live, on the avenue de la Pompignane. You should attend the vernissages (openings) in the park.

Bon vin, bonne charcuterie, bons fromages.

Baillargues

Yesterday I attended the opening of a European exhibition entitled "L'Art et la Matière" ("The Art and the Matter, if that makes sense). The title of the exhibition is a play-on-words on "l'art et la manière" which means "he's got the know-how" as my dictionary told me.

The exhibition is held in l'espace Vigneron in Baillargues, a very beautiful town ten minutes from where I live.

I had a wonderful time there. The people were particularly friendly and I found the artists very creative. We were welcomed by Nicole Rocchi, the first "ajointe au maire" and by Morgane.

Today I have singled out Dina Kraus-Kunze, whose works I liked a lot. Unfortunately I have lost the photos of the sculptures/paintings I preferred.

The mayor, Jean-Luc Meissonnier, is doing a great job in Baillargues. He is a very dynamic man (and very attractive too... if I can say so).

Vincent Roussillat

Vincent Roussillat is a young painter from Montpellier. His paintings are like him, young, modern, friendly, imaginative and sexy :-))

The opening of his new exhibition in Les Côteaux de Montpellier, last Friday, was a big success. Good food and good wines, of course.

Our diva Nathalie Nicaud had fit her songs to the paintings. Her dresses too suited them! You will see that tomorrow.

Patrick Singh

On last Friday evening I attended the "taking down" of the exhibition of Patrick Singh's very beautiful paintings in the garage of a technical high school, Lycée Pierrre Mendès-France (former Lycée Méditerranée).

I had never met Patrick Singh before and I had never seen his paintings. Singh finds his inspiration from his travels throughout the world.

Patrick Singh has painted many black faces that are lit by touches of white paint. I did the opposite: I photographed him "in the shade," which makes him look a bit like his "models" (actually he paints without models).

Frédéric Bazille

Frédéric Bazille
was an Impressionist painter from Montpellier. He got killed in 1870 in the Franco-German war. He was 29 years old only.

The painting above, which he made in 1868, has just helped save the "valley of the river Lez." The valley is now "listed" (please let me know how I should say this in good English) and the flora and fauna will be protected.

I found the photo of the painting on Olga's gallery. I was surprised to read that hand-painted reproductions of Bazille's paintings were available on that site! The flora and fauna are protected thanks to the painting, but the painting itself is not!

After the Christmas season

After the Christmas season, even the ladies in the paintings on the walls of a big lecture hall at the top of the Corum need to go on a diet.
