This is where the statue of Demosthenes stands, in front of the largest public library in Montpellier, called "Médiathèque Emile Zola", in the modern part of the city, Antigone.
It is as large as an American university library. It is really a wonder, with its glass walls that reflect the trees around it and make it fit into the surroundings.
Moreover the librarians are really helpful and nice. A lot of cultural events take place at the library all year round.
This library looks great. I have to get back to Montpellier; it seems it's entirely different from the city I visited a long time ago...
RépondreSupprimerAlso loved the fly on Demosthenes!
I was surprised to see this classic sculpture outside such a modern building. It is a very attractive building - bet it is nice and light inside - good to read by!!!
RépondreSupprimerNice building, looks airy and fresh and clean! I've been away but I'm back again.
RépondreSupprimerNice contrast between the modern building and the ancient statue( is it really ancient??)
RépondreSupprimerbeau contrasme entre cette architecture moderne et la statue traditionnelle grecque. J'aime beaucoup les batiments en verre, on peut faire plein de photos avec des reflets. Je te souhaite un bon weekend
RépondreSupprimerLooks a lot more modern than our original library. I'll have to post a picture of it shortly, but I wish I could find pictures of the inerior from about the 1950's.

It certainly is a magnificent modern library. I think I would catch the tram and take a thousand photos, including one of M. Demosthenes and his small friend !!
RépondreSupprimerI love books, and I love libraries. This would be a great one to visit, for a day, a week, maybe just camp there.
RépondreSupprimerI work in a library so how could I not love this?
