Westport Country Playhouse
These are photos of Westport Country Playhouse, which has been recently renovated thanks to the most famous Westport residents, Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, among others. Joanne is one of the artistic directors. Paul Newman is a member of the Advisory Council to the Board.
The playhouse has been painted the same colors as barns were in former times but I don't think they used ox blood. :-))

I also learned that the red paint was the cheapest, that why in some part of the country, the front of the house was painted white and the rest of the house and the barn in red!

Very impressive. Are you having fun here??
RépondreSupprimerElle est bien belle cette Playhouse ! J'aime bien le contraste du blanc sur le rouge, et en plus sous un ciel super bleu !
RépondreSupprimerHi Marie - nice building. I heard Paul Newman has cancer - do you know??
RépondreSupprimerMy post is also a theatre today, but it looks so different to this!!!!
Perhaps Newman was inspired by the colours of Bolivia, when raindrops kept falling on his head.
RépondreSupprimerThe music never leaves my head, - nor Katherine Ross !!
Have just been catching up on your travels Marie. It seems as though you are having some fun in New York!
RépondreSupprimerVery beautiful! I was thinking, that looks American, not French! Then I remembered again that you are here.
RépondreSupprimerAiee--short memory!
But lovely buildings.
Not vintage, but similar!! :-D
YES, are you having a good time?
RépondreSupprimerNot only the colouring reminds me of American barns - the shape is very similar to my eye, too. A very handsome building, Marie.
