Westport Country Playhouse

These are photos of Westport Country Playhouse, which has been recently renovated thanks to the most famous Westport residents, Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, among others. Joanne is one of the artistic directors. Paul Newman is a member of the Advisory Council to the Board.

The playhouse has been painted the same colors as barns were in former times but I don't think they used ox blood. :-))

  1. How is the New New yorker/Westporter!
    doing?
I know this playhouse,I usde to go with the kids in the summer.

I also learned that the red paint was the cheapest, that why in some part of the country, the front of the house was painted white and the rest of the house and the barn in red!

My answering machine has a strange voice(my son played with his computer) but don't be alarmed!!
    See you soon.

  6. Perhaps Newman was inspired by the colours of Bolivia, when raindrops kept falling on his head.
The music never leaves my head, - nor Katherine Ross !!

  9. Not only the colouring reminds me of American barns - the shape is very similar to my eye, too. A very handsome building, Marie.
