The "médiathèque Emile Zola" is certainly my favorite place in Montpellier. The first photograph shows the statue of the great Greek orator Demosthenes, placed near the library front entrance. You can see part of the back of the library in the second photo.

I'll spend next week with Zoe, Greg and Val's cat in Uchaud, while the family is in Belgium.

Demosthenes le démocrate. Il faudrait m'aller réviser les classiques... Il n'a pas l'air très accueillant par contre la médiathèque a l'air de l'être.

I remember reading Emile Zola as a teen, and finding it hard work, but interesting. The statue is funny - I never knew what he looked like but the face seems to fit his writings!

RépondreSupprimerZola : le premier livre de lui que j'ai lu, c'était poutr l'école, "Le Rêve". Je me suis tellement emm... à lire ce lire que cela m'a fachée avec la littérature. Plus tyard, j'ai lu l"La Bête Humaine", c'était beaucoup plus intéressant, à mon avis.
Le chat est beaucoup plus sympathique que la statue aux petits yeux cruels! Mais quel bel espace que cette bibliothèque!
