Bike Ride

This afternoon my friends Denise and Roberto and I took a wonderful bike ride between "les Etangs" (the ponds) close to the sea . The weather was very nice but it became cold around 5 PM. We went to Palavas les Flots. Palavas derives its name from "pue la vase" (stinks of silt). Of course, it does not stink any longer!

If you come to Montpellier, I will take you to les étangs. If you can't ride a bike, Denise will lend you hers...... :-))

  3. La ville que l'on voit c'est Carnon, pas Montpellier :-))

  4. This is stunning, the lakes, the sea, the roads and cycle tracks. I suppose you were close to the wonderful cathedral at Maguelone, behind the camera. No swimming near there at this time of year !
BTW, Bergson's VTT is alluding me. I assume it's a velo of some description ?

  6. What fun - I should love to go and a 3-wheel bike is perfect for someone of my advanced years!!!

  7. That is an amazing shot, what a neat place, almost surreal. And that, of course, means I like it. Were you up on a bridge or something, it seems like you are up above it all. I'm guessing there must be lots of neat photo opportunities there. To say nothing of Denise' very cool, tricked out, four wheeled bicycle. I want to ride that one!
    Thanks,
    Wayne

  8. We were scrapbooking yesterday and a friend of mine was on vacation and said she got around on a bike like this. She showed us a photo of it.

I posted a photo of deer today, at least my version. The only one's I could get. And, some snow on my personal blog.

  10. Some of you may not know that the étangs (I would call them lagoons, despite what the Collins dictionary advises) are the site of highly productive oyster beds. The towns all around are full of restaurants specialising in shellfish platters, even roadside booths selling them by the kilo. It's such a pleasure, especially washed down with the local white wine, Picpoul de Pinet.

  11. Expat, the oyster beds are in the "étang de Thau." We don't have any in our area (Carnon, Palavas, La Grande Motte). When we want to eat some good oysters, we go to Bouzigues!

  13. Ah, Marie, merci — I didn't realise that the oyster beds were only in Etang de Thau. I have a very fine photograph of me eating violets in Mèze and drinking picpoul.....
