Sculpture

This is one of the statues that adorn the roof of the Musée Fabre, in Montpellier. This statue is a sculpture that pays homage to sculpture. I found that funny, sort of redundant.

I was a potter and a sculptor in a former life. I loved it.

  6. This post reqires serious consideration.
Firstly; a sculpture that pays homage to sculpture must be verity in itself; not an oxymoron, but value in its own truth. Therefore, that may be seen as undisputable. I certainly cannot dispute the truth of this message so I dont't find it redundant at all. I really find the sculpture pleasing and having the air of freedom of expression; of self expression. It has a semblance of ancient Greek sculpture, with a proprietorship over life and love and the meaning of life. I certainly love it and the message it gives me.
And I would love to have beeen a sculptor, as you once were. Perhaps you are still a sculptor, but of words. We love what we do, have done, will do, wish we had done, but what we do now is what we are, now. Things change with time. This statue looks down upon us as we make up our minds.

  7. Wow, I am impressed by your description, M. Benaut. Snif snif I will never be able to do the same.

Now, have you ever seen a painting called "painting" or heard a piece of music called "music" ? :-))

Thank you so much, ge. Thank you Neva for your comment.

  8. Marie, do you still keep your sculptures? Can you photograph some of them for us? I would love to see them.
This one is lovely but I agree with you about the title, seems a bit lazy to me not to find another name for a very pretty piece.
