Summer in pink

Montpellier is the capital of Languedoc-Roussillon. Languedoc-Roussillon is the first (biggest) vine-growing region in France for the moment. Much bigger than the region of Bordeaux. I added "for the moment" because the European Union wants vine-growers from Languedoc to uproot a large part of their vines. Vineyards are one of the major elements of our heritage here. The wines of Languedoc-Roussillon have been much improved over the past few decades. Therefore it is a sad decision for the vine-growers to make.

Summer has finally arrived in Languedoc. It is really hot now. Summer is the season of "la fête," I mean it is the best season to enjoy life. A glass of rosé wine, served chilled, sometimes iced, adds to your pleasure but it must be drunk in moderation, of course.

  2. Your story with the photo is very interesting. Wine I like but know nothing about which color to buy or how old it should be. I like whatever is placed in front of me.

    I like your photo too.

  3. Ah oui, c'est bien moi, Zara :-)) Oui je m'éloigne de plus en plus de la viande. Je n'en mange pratiquement plus mais je dois étudier la question du régime végétarien équilibré !

Abraham, I like the rosé for its color.... I think red wines are too "heavy" for the summer..... :-)) I don't know much about wine. I just know that I'd like to defend our vine-growers......

Thank you for your commen, Zsolt. I tasted it. It was good....

  5. It is very sad about the wines Marie.

The colours of the bottle are so pretty - a real feeling of summer.
Enjoy the wine and the weather - is it dry there? Do you need rain?

  7. Some chilled rosé, a nice panoramic view over the rolling hills vers la mer, a little music, (Mozart ?), the sun going down. Perhaps the smell of the vinyards and the wineries, a soft breeze, un peu de fromage.
    Sûrement c'est perfection?

Thank you, Neva. I like the rosé because it is beautiful and it captures the light of the sun perfectly. I like beautiful beverages and beautiful dishes :-)) ......

  13. Ah tais-toi Bergson, l'Union Européenne, elle me gonfle..... :-))) J'aime bien tous les peuples d'Europe mais pas la machine de Bruxelles (le machin, plutôt!)

Thank you very much, Neva. I will visit the site. I have never understood much about Masons in France either.

Quand vous viendrez dans le sud, M. et Mme Benaut, n'oubliez pas de passer par Montpellier! Je vous donnerai mon numéro de téléphone.

Jules, it is not so dry as it is generally at this period of the year but some rain would be welcome. It is hot...

Oh non, Ed, I'd like to talk about them every day to help the vignerons....

  14. Why is Brussels trying to get the winegrowers to uproot their vines? That's quite dreadful. You are so right, the wines of the south west have improved so much over recent years. I live in the Alpes-Maritimes but if I don't buy an Italian or a Provence wine I buy one from the Languedoc.
