Today I just want to mention two blogs that I find very nice (of course, they talk about Montpellier).
The first one is called Le gâteau sous la cerise. "La cerise sur le gâteau" is an expression that means "the icing on the cake." Elsa, the owner of the blog, has reversed the expression (=the cake under the icing). Elsa has grown up in Montpellier and she pays homage to the city on her blog.
I found the link to the second blog on Elsa's blog. It is Le blog de l'Hérault. If you understand French, you will learn a lot about the département de l'Hérault whose capital is Montpellier, and about its history.
If you do not understand French, you will see a lot of beautiful photos of Montpellier and a lot of places in the département. The photo above has been found on Le blog de l'Hérault". It shows "le Scaphandrier" (deep-sea diver), a building located on La place de la Comédie.
Both blogs are worth the trip! Please go and visit them, and then let me know what you think.
On the "blog de l'Hérault" I spotted the Cirque de Navacelles immediately. A glacial type of oxbow bend, it's a really stunning geological marvel and a site I know quite well. A trip down the winding road to the bottom rewards one with a cool river in which you can swim and dive, and a fairly good restaurant where you can always eat écrevisses (crayfish), even out of season.

RépondreSupprimerCela me rapelle de belles vacances que j'ai passées dans la région, il y a bien longtemps déjà, j'ai visité le cirque de Navecelles , les grottes des demoiselles et à Lunel je suis allée voir une corrida pour la première mais dernière fois, je sais cela fait partie de votre culture, tout y est beau les costumes, l'ambiance, sauf la fin.

Last evening, I re-discovered your wonderful and colourful trams. I am wondering if they cross the river to the east. There seems to be a tram to Les Aubes from Place de la Comédie. That would be a great trip. There must be so much for the tourist to see.

I love the cirque de Navacelles, Saint Maurice de Navacelles and the "megaliths" on the plateau near it.
