SHAPE
Last January, the SHAPE International Band was in Montpellier (I don't remember for which event...). I happened to be in Le Polygone where they were playing. It was great. It was probably one of the best jazz concerts I ever attended.
The SHAPE (Supreme Headquarters of the Allied Powers in Europe) is located near Mons, in Belgium, not far from where I lived for 15 years. De Gaulle made the NATO leave France long ago but they might come back in the next few years... If they do, I will see my friend Alexander more often. Alexander Boeringa, a former university professor from Houston, gives classes to the young NATO soldiers in the EU.
I did not understand why that great band was invited to play in a mall..... I think they deserved better.

RépondreSupprimerI suppose it is like the air force bands here at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, who will play at street festivals if asked. I think to them it is like a live practice session. Nice shot.
