Rugby World Cup (1)

The Rugby World Cup will take place in France this year. It will start on next Friday.

The Wallabies played yesterday in Montpellier (training). I had been invited to attend the match by my friend Evelyne but as I was at the museum I had to turn down the offer. Sigh.

When I left the museum I took a few photos of the flags on the lampposts of the Place de la Comédie. They are the flags of the countries whose teams are going to play in Montpellier. There are a few other ones....

  6. Have just watched Montpellier on TV and an interview with the Wallabies - how exciting.
I yelled "That's where Marie lives!!!" Everyone was impressed I knew someone who lives there!!!!
Our wallabies were so amazed at the wonderful warm welcome they got. They said there were so many people at the practice it felt like a real game.

  7. Smiling at Jules' comment, I too think now of towns as epitomized by the bloggers I read. Marie Montpellier is your name in my head.

  8. Il s'avérerait que le pays qui gagnera la tasse du monde, a les couleurs bleu, blanc et rouge dans son drapeau.

The Oceania bloggers happily wait for Bergson to tell us the results.

    Vive les Wallabies !!!

  9. I was hoping that you would help me find which flags were these. I recognized the American flag and the flag from Australia..... :-))

I hope France will win. But I hate the idea that other countries are going to lose. So, I'd better remain neutral!

  10. I guess that we'll have to barrack for the Wallabies although I think that Rugby is quite a barbaric game. I much prefer our version of football - "Australian Rules" - mostly played in Victoria and South Australia and Western Australia.

I am interested in the Cup because there will be matches in Montpellier and also because I like the countries that are going to play here, such as South Africa, Australia, (and I have forgotten which other ones :-))

  14. YAH!! How very special for you that those wonderful Wallabies are based in your beautiful city. I hope that means a little corner of your heart and mind might be with them during the world cup perhaps?? ;-) On the news last night, they had film of them training in front of a very supportive crowd at the stadium in Montpellier...the commentator said the crowd cheered everything they did AT TRAINING!! I have many disturbed nights' sleep coming up, as I set the alarm to watch the Wallabies' matches.
