Don't you think that reflections, which are "images" of reality, are sometimes more beautiful than reality itself? I like the sky in the window better.
Yesterday I went to the Rencontres Généalogiques et Historiques in Mauguio, a town near Montpellier. That was a very interesting event. The participants were associations, writers, publishers, etc... Are you interested in genealogy? I am, but I feel a bit overwhelmed. There are so many Rivets, even on Genealogy.com!
Two people had come from Belgium, my second homeland. I found that the first Brion (my sons' name) registered in 1628, in Belgium, was a lady, Adrienne de Brion, thanks to Geniwal.

Hier je suis allée aux rencontres généalogiques de Mauguio. J'ai trouvé ça fort intéressant, passionnée que je suis d'histoire et qui aimerais tant en savoir plus sur la famille que je n'ai pas connue.
Deux personnes s'étaient déplacées de Belgique, qui est ma seconde patrie (si on peut encore utiliser ce mot devenu ringard aux oreilles des tenants de la bien-pensance politiquement-correcte et de la pensée unique).
Je rajouterai des liens plus tard.... Je suis repassée pour un temps aux photos de dimensions modestes, mais cliquables.

RépondreSupprimerYes, I am interested in Genealogy. I have done my LINCOLN family back to Roman times in England when a Roman legion was encamped there and bore the name, LINCOLN. Since I am related to President Abraham Lincoln, the LINCOLN scholars did a lot of the detailed digging and I was able to put my family in the proper places and was done. It can be addictive.

RépondreSupprimerI'm not really interested in genealogy but I created a family tree in myheritage.com just to see how the software worked. I was very impressed with its ease of use but the project stalled because other family members who have vital information lost interest very quickly.

RépondreSupprimerI've done all the DNA tests and one MtDna...it's fascinating! Originally my "people" came from northern France and ended up in the British Isles and the Scandinavian countries ... but there are links to people in Eastern Europe as well.
Trying to follow all this up, though, is a full-time job.
And if you want a hat to wear in California (when are you going there?), you'll have to make a stop in Ocala first!

RépondreSupprimerJ'aime bien ta photo, un ciel qui se reflète c'est toujours une ouverture vers la poésie. Mais le ciel par -dessus les toits me plait bien aussi. Il est vrai qu'à Montpellier il doit être si souvent bleu uniforme qu'il peut devenir monotone non ?
Mon neveu a fait notre arbre généalogique. Très intéressant. Il est remonté dans les siècles côté maternel mais pour mon père il n'a pas pu aller au-delà de 1789. Peut- être était-il d'une famille protestante. Or,l'église tenait les registres qui ont été brûlés dans les petits villages à la révolution et les protestants n y figuraient pas ? En Ardèche il y a beaucoup de protestants.
Mon neveu en est resté là. Une anecdote, au lycée où j'étais interne, le dimanche avec les copines pour se distraire, on allait à l'église et au temple. ;))

RépondreSupprimer«Louis» has relatives who've done a lot of research into the genealogy of his mother's family. They have the family traced to Bayeux as far back as the 10th century. That's why «Louis» est une vache Normande.
C'est vrai que le reflet est souvent plus beau que la réalité. C'est souvent vrai aussi pour la photo.
