The Assumption

My mother was a fervent Catholic. A few weeks ago, my elder son moved. He found this old statue of the Virgin Mary in a box in his cellar. It belonged to my mother.

Today the Catholics celebrate the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. It is also my "fête" since I am called Marie.

This photo is a very "modest" one. But today I am thinking of my mother who would have been 100 years old this year (I was born when my parents did not expect to have another child!).

  3. Marie,
Your post today has made me feel most humble.
I have just posted my daily shot, only to find that my timing has been very poor.
I really hope that you forgive me for some very light-hearted humour that is not intended to be in (very) bad taste.
Tonight I will be thinking of your dear mother and also mine. My mum would be 92.

  5. Marie - my mother was also "an accident" born 14 years after her nearest sibling - but I have found "accidents" to be the most special of all n'est ce pas?

Enjoy Your Day - we salute you and your Mum !!!!

PS My daughter's name is Madeleine - French because she was conceived on a holiday in France so I guess this is her special day too??
