Antigone

This is one of the buildings on the Place du Nombre d'Or (Golden Number Plaza). I used to live there. Actually the Place du Nombre d'Or is surrounded by one long curved building with about twenty "entries." I don't have a wide-angle lens, which would enable me to take "panoramic shots" for you to see it better.

  7. Antigone reminds me of Frankfurter Allee here in Berlin, formerly Stalin-Allee. It was a huge architectural project the Russians instigated with big model apartment houses modelled after ones in Moscow that were "ideal workers quarters." I think the "ironic fascism" of Antigone's architecture is jarring, myself (there's also a smaller development in Paris, the Place de Catalonia, I believe, by the same guy), and I think living there would irritate me.

    But I'm easily irritated, maybe...

  9. Thank you, Ed and J. I tend to agree with you too. Ricardo Bofill has designed Antigone. I think he had similar buildings built in several other cities in France.

Thank you very much to the other commentators :-))
