Dedeuch

You might wonder why I'm posting the photo of an old car. But this is not "any" car. This is a 2CV Citroën. La 2CV (CV = deux chevaux - two horses) is part of French History. There are still a lot of nostalgic French people who maintain its memory and the cars that are left. The 2CV has a portal on the Internet and innumerable sites are devoted to it. You can buy one on eBay. It is nicknamed "Deudeuch."

  1. It really is a classic car. I do see a few on the roads here in Sweden every now and then, and last year I took a photo of a Renault Dauphine.

  2. Boy you really can buy ANYTHING ON ebay! I didn't know that this was the nickname for this classic car:) I'll have fun impressing my boyfriend Francois with that tidbit! How was your trip to L'Arche?

  3. The Dauphine was a "bourgeois" car compared to the 2CV, Steffe.

My trip to L'Arche went on well but still I miss the kitten. The people in charge there said she would get adopted quickly. They kind of select the "adoptants." L'Arche is like a house as you can see on their website. Most cats are free. The sad thing is I walked again along the river yesterday afternoon and saw a big cat that might be the mother of the kitten. I think the mother and several kittens were abandoned there. Close to there there is a residence inhabited by students.... It's summer break, they go back to their homes.....

  5. I'm back to explain the phrase on my blog you questioned. "To ham it up" means pose, react in a way that calls attention to yourself in a given situation. In the case of Guber, the dog, he recognized and loved the camera and was very playful...a real "ham."

I love this car. It looks like somebody I would have come up with.

  12. Thank you, Bergson. I don't know anything about cars. I made a serious mistake: the 2CV was made by Citroën and not Renault. Shame on me :-))

  15. La dedeuch était ce qu'était la VW en Allemange, c'est à dire la voiture du peuple. Mon Pépé en a eu toute sa vie que des dedeuches.
C'est une voiture qui restera mytique puisque j'en ai vu et en Allemagne et aux States !

  16. Naturally people all over the world love the 2CV.

I have a collection of them here in Adelaide, - that is to say, photos of them.

I even posted one on Sunday May 17th.

I once owned a Benaut-Renault 12, but the deux chevaux would have my preference !

And yes, the Dauphine WAS bourgeois, tu as raison !

  19. From the moment the first Mercedes-Benz CLS four-door "coupe" was introduced to the public, other German luxury automakers hit the drafting board. According to the German auto experts at AutoBild, Audi is just over a year away from unleashing its own cleverly packaged sedan.
